Science Fiction that doesn’t Taste like Science Fiction

The Fighter Queen saga

Back

A few centuries from now, several star systems have been colonized–Sirius, Vega, Alpha Centauri, Tau Ceti, Beta Centauri, Altair, all populated by humans escaping an overcrowded Terra (also known as Earth). Each new society evolves in its own way, most of them peacefully. Sirius, however, is a different story.

The planet of Sirius 1 is ruled by a totalitarian mindset, a mindset that sees its duty as spreading its own political philosophy to other worlds. The first victim of Sirian aggression is the planet Vega 3, a peaceful society known for its culture, art, and beautiful (genetically-enhanced) women.

Onja Kvoorik was born just a few years after Vega was conquered, living in virtual slavery on her own planet. When her mother and older sister are taken to Sirius as slaves, her father manages to have Onja smuggled to Terra to escape the same fate. That’s when the adventure begins.

A Vow to Sophia / Excerpt

When twelve year-old Onja Pedersen vowed before Goddess Sophia to free her mother and sister from Sirian slavery, she had no idea how to make it happen; six years later, when the Sirian Confederacy attacks the Solar Federation, she sees her chance and joins the United Federation Fighter Fleet.

From the day she enlists, Onja faces opposition — a skeptical recruiter, a sadistic drill instructor, a vengeful XO — but there are good men as well, and eventually she falls in love. Consumed by hatred of the Sirians, Onja lusts only to kill, and quickly becomes the deadliest gunner in the Fighter Service. In just two years of combat, she destroys dozens of enemy fighters, two troop transports, and faces down an enemy carrier. Then Fate hits back, and takes from Onja her most prized possession.

A Vow to Sophia is the story of a girl facing impossible odds in a galaxy gone mad. It’s a story of courage, bravery, passion, and single-minded determination. Onja’s hatred fuels her success, but in the end, love is her salvation.

The Fighter Queen / Excerpt

Twenty years after she enlisted in the UF Space Force, Onja Kvoorik is the most wanted woman in the galaxy. The Sirian Confederacy has put a price on her head: ten million sirios, dead or alive.

But the Fighter Queen can’t stop yet. As a terrified 12 year-old in the Temple of Sophia, she vowed before the goddess to find and free her mother and sister, both slaves of Sirius. The war has crossed the galaxy, but the Confederacy is deadlier than ever. The next campaign will be against Vega 3, where she hopes to find her father still alive; and if she survives that one, the final invasion – the Sirian home world, where her mother and sister disappeared 27 years ago.

Will she be able to fulfill her vow to Sophia, or has time run out on her scattered family? It’s been a long war, and Onja has survived some close calls, with the hottest fighting still ahead.

But she has a new pilot now, a natural-born stick; his name is Johnny Lincoln II.

Star Marine! / Excerpt

When the Sirian Confederacy attacked the Federation, six star systems became embroiled in a 22-year galactic war.

Six years after the attack, the Federation is finally ready to go on the offensive. The plan – retake the Outer Worlds, liberate Altair and Alpha Centauri, then slam it down the enemy’s throat, invading Beta Centauri, Vega 3, and Sirius.

It takes all kinds to fight a war:

Rico Martinez: he locks and loads in the deadly bloodbath of Periscope Harbor.

Regina Wells: Can she learn the identity of the spy in time to save the Star Marines at Periscope Harbor?

Wade Palmer: Is there any way he can rescue the plan before the Star Marines are slaughtered?

The Fighter King / Excerpt

When Oliver Lincoln III, the heir to Lincoln Enterprises of Denver, Colorado, realizes that Sirius is about to invade the peaceful world of Vega 3 using the combat fighters he has sold them, he feels an obligation to help the Vegans defend themselves by selling them fighters as well. He travels to Vega 3 and closes the deal, but things happen more quickly than he expects. Before he can get home, the attack arrives, stranding him in the middle of an interstellar war.

The Sword of Sophia / Excerpt

Vega 3 has been invaded and overwhelmed by the Sirian Confederacy, its women raped, its society enslaved. The Vegans have put up a vicious fight worthy of their Viking ancestors, charging the Sirians a gallon of blood for every yard of the planet, but now the fight is over, the battle lost. Vega 3 has been conquered.

But deep in the Scroll of Sophia, that mystical goddess the Vegans hold so dear, is a nearly forgotten prophecy of a time when the invader’s boot will stand on Vega 3. The prophecy says Sophia will send a sword—a sword of justice—and the invader will be torn asunder. Is the prophecy real, or just a false hope? And if the prophecy is real, is it really possible to throw the Sirians off of Vega 3?

And what…or who…is the “sword of Sophia”?

Visit the cold, dreary world of Vega 3 between the wars, during the time the Fighter Queen was born. Walk among the Sirians but don’t look them in the eye—it’s a dangerous planet out there.
